From KINK INK to KINKED

Candace DiTalamo

When I first established my brand, Kink Ink, it served as a creative outlet for my eccentric hand-painted ink drawings. The term "Kink" resonated with me due to its multifaceted meaning: a twist or curl formed by doubling or winding, an unconventional approach to things, and a distinctive peculiarity, both mentally and physically. Working with ink on paper was a true delight for me. The process allowed me to relish the initial control of the ink on the paintbrush, while embracing the unpredictable nature of the end result.

The positive response I received when I printed my original artworks onto t-shirts and posters encouraged me to expand my brand. Over the past five years, Kink Ink has evolved and transformed. While I still create printed designs for t-shirts, I have also ventured into producing art jackets and various decorative items. I began using the term "KINKED" to describe the process of upcycling preloved items that I discover. "KINKING" became the verb to represent the transformative journey of these one-of-a-kind jackets. If you are fortunate enough to own one of my wearable artworks, you can proudly declare that you've been fabulously "kinked."

Hence, I have made the decision to change my company name from Kink Ink to Kinked, symbolizing the growth and evolution of my brand's identity.
